About The Role
At AO Recycling, we're committed to extracting as much value as possible from the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) that is thrown away by UK households every year. As our Facilities Maintenance Technician, you’ll help keep our Telford sites safe, well maintained and running as they should.
This is a varied, hands on role covering everything from plumbing, minor electrical tasks and building repairs to painting, grounds maintenance and general site upkeep. You’ll also work alongside our Projects Team, engineers and operational teams, supporting improvements and installations across our sites.
No two days will look exactly the same. You could be responding to a repair, helping coordinate contractors, carrying out planned maintenance or getting stuck into a wider site improvement project.
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across our Telford sites
- Taking care of general building repairs, including plumbing, minor electrical work, painting, decorating and basic joinery
- Completing external maintenance, including grounds upkeep, fencing, paving and landscaping repairs
- Supporting site improvement projects, installations and facilities upgrades alongside our Projects and Engineering teams
- Coordinating approved contractors, ensuring inductions and paperwork are completed correctly
- Managing maintenance stock, deliveries and facilities stores
- Using our maintenance management system to record work and planned maintenance activities
- Helping keep our sites safe, well maintained and operating smoothly
A Few Things About You
You’ll be someone who enjoys practical work, takes ownership and is comfortable turning your hand to different jobs. We’re looking for:
- Previous experience in facilities, general maintenance, building maintenance or a similar hands-on role
- Practical experience of general repairs and site upkeep
- Basic plumbing knowledge
- Some exposure to minor electrical work
- Confidence carrying out painting, decorating and general building repairs
- A practical approach to solving problems
- The ability to organise and prioritise your own workload
- A flexible and positive attitude
- Confidence working independently and as part of a wider team
A Bit About Us
Every year, thousands of fridges, washing machines and other large domestic appliances reach the end of their life. At our specialist recycling facilities in Telford, we recover valuable materials from these appliances, reduce waste and help support a more sustainable future.
We're big on appliances and electricals, REALLY big. Washing machines, fridge freezers and TVs? They're our bread and butter. Mobiles, Airwraps and Ring doorbells? Yep, those too. If it plugs in, powers up or makes life easier, AO probably has it.
But we're more than that. For over 25 years, trust has been at the heart of everything we do, helping us become the UK's most trusted electrical retailer. Our customers rate us 4.9 on Trustpilot from nearly one million reviews, with more 5 star ratings than any other UK electrical retailer, because they know they can rely on us. And it's exactly the same for our AOers, too.
We truly believe it's more than just a job. We genuinely care about each other and the impact we have on making our customers' lives easier by helping them brilliantly. Everyone here knows how their role makes a difference, whether that's delivering outstanding service, supporting our recycling operation or helping build a more sustainable future.
Our people are our superpower, so when it comes to finding new AOers, we know it's about more than just a CV. It's about what makes you, YOU
