Oracle Apex Developer
Are you looking for a new challenge in IT? BAE Systems Maritime - Naval Ships are looking for an Oracle APEX Developer to join the existing in-house APEX team based across the UK. This role can be based out of Glasgow, Portsmouth or Filton.
You will be joining at an exciting time as we grow to meet current program needs in the UK and recent export wins including the Hunter Class Frigate for the Australian Navy and the Canadian Surface Combatant.
You will work with analysts and developers to understand the needs of the business, tease out their requirements and the data required to fulfil it. You will transform and develop this insight into solutions that are used across all areas of the business.
Your main responsibilities as a Oracle Apex Developer will involve:
Delivering reliable, scalable and performant solutions using Oracle APEX.
Engaging in the full systems development lifecycle undertaking business analysis, design, development, implementation and testing in accordance with the relevant processes and quality standards.
Maintaining and supporting existing APEX developments, evolving and improving them through the defined change management process.
Working in an agile environment with fellow developers, analysts and the customer.
Identifying process improvement opportunities to drive business efficiency and innovation
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
Experience of front-end application development using Oracle APEX
Proven Oracle database skills i.e. SQL and PL/SQL, working with packages, procedures, functions, triggers and materialised views
JavaScript, HTML and CSS
Experience of interpreting user needs and defining requirements and of developing and deploying solutions in a complex environment
Desirable:
Knowledge of XML and associated technologies.
Experience in developing end-to-end analytics solutions, including system configuration, model building, data security, and reporting.
Knowledge of RESTful Web/Data Services.
Knowledge of maintaining code releases (GIT or Subversion).
Degree in Computer Science/related subject or relevant technical experience.

You will demonstrate an eagerness to learn and progress in role and have a positive attitude, professional demeanour and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to work alongside both business and technical teams and be the liaison point between both.
Location: Glasgow, Filton or Portsmouth. Potential for occasional travel between other UK sites when safe to do so to meet customer needs.
