Level 2 – NDT Technician
Would you like to play a key role within the Non Destructive Testing (NDT) team, supporting the engineering function with leading products that include 5th generation fighter jets? We currently have a vacancy for a Level 2 – NDT Technician at our site in RAF Coningsby.
As a Level 2 – NDT Technician, you will be working with aircraft maintenance teams from the Typhoon depth Maintenance Facility in support of depth maintenance.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a role that will have you involved with cutting edge technology, and the potential to develop on this role and gain further certifications within NDT.
Your main responsibilities as a Level 2 – NDT Technician will involve:
Working within a team of NDT engineers inspecting advanced aircraft components using NDT Methods such as Penetrant, Magnetic, Eddy Current & Ultrasonic Testing to ensure that the components that we help maintain meet the airworthiness and safety requirements of that component
Improving methods and processes to meet customer and business requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery
Ensuring that all work activities comply with the Pt-145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition, Maintenance Function & Materials Engineering QMS and its associated procedures and standards, and any other mandated company procedures and standards, as applicable, identifying and proposing changes as required
Escalating any issues which may impact on safety, quality and general airworthiness. You will also understand how individual actions contribute to overall delivery performance
Ensuring that all technical airworthiness activities undertaken are appropriately documented and records are maintained on relevant systems (IT/paper based)
Complying with, and participating in the application of human factors, error management, risk management and safety assurance within the Materials Engineering environment
Demonstrating an appropriate level of understanding and application of the relevant statutory regulations and legislation as they apply to the maintenance operations environment and its activities, e.g. Ioninsing Radiation Regulations, Internation Trade in Arms Regulations, SHE, etc.
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential Skills:
You must either hold or have held an EN4179 qualification (or equivalent) in at least 2 of the following methods: Penetrant, Magnetic, Eddy Current and/or Ultrasonic Testing
Demonstrable experience of working within either a Military or Civilian Aerospace environment
Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Office Tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Desirable Skills:
Any experience of working with Carbon Composite Structures would be highly advantageous
Evidence of formal training or experience of other NDT methods to compliment the above would be highly advantageous
Working knowledge of PT, MT, ET & UT systems and requirements
Professional knowledge of nationally-mandated regulations, e.g., SHE regulations

Salary: £35,000
