Principal Engineer – Combat Systems
Location: Barrow in Furness, Bristol, Frimley or Weymouth

What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering design solutions for the Common Combat System focussing on requirements and acceptance for the UWS sub-systems including Minor Sonars, Navigational Sonars and Underwater Communications
- Gathering and managing high-level customer requirements and decomposing into system level requirements.
- Managing design change and design improvement from existing platform baselines to ensure system functionality future platforms.
- Cascading requirements to suppliers and carrying out supplier visits
- Being involved in design reviews, including those with ship builders, suppliers, and the MoD customer.
- Manage system integration and testing.
- Updating and integration of sub-systems
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Demonstrable Systems Engineering experience, including managing requirements and acceptance activities, systems design and integration.
- An understanding of lifecycle management
- Experience of working with the DOORS (or similar) software package for requirements management
- HNC / HND or equivalent qualification or experience
Beneficial:
- Understanding of DOORs and Enterprise Architect.
- Previous experience/knowledge or Underwater Systems on a Submarine

The team will be helping design and develop underwater systems for the Astute submarine class. These systems are safety-critical and mission-critical and provide cutting edge capability to the Royal Navy.
