Would you like to work on an exciting programme within the Planning Function that has responsibility for delivery of the Dreadnought Submarine Programme? We currently have a vacancy for a Production Support Lead at our site in Barrow in Furness.
As a Production Support Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating and enabling work at the work face by preparing work orders ahead of the 2-week production window to ensure work can be efficiently and effectively task allocated. You will be responsible for checking that work orders are accurate before work orders are given Project Management Approval, for maturing work orders once their material is fully available by completing all of the job preparation required so the work order is able to be executed, and for guiding the resolution of issues during this period.
This role will provide you with opportunity to develop an excellent product knowledge and understanding of how the submarines are constructed. This could be valuable for progressing within BAE Systems. You could have multiple avenues to progress for example, The PM functions or PPC functions, Operations Functions into roles such as team leader and area manager.
Your main responsibilities as a Production Support Lead will include:
- Ensuring effective PMAP (Project Management Approval) reviews occur in advance of PMAP pack checks and verification of scopes, budget and drawings as a package of work (in advance of the PMAP). Provide updates at the PMAP/ Integrated Project Team session on the status of the boat and support sequencing with detailed knowledge of the work. Responsible for raising and escalating issues to the Production Controller, IPT manager or Area Manager regarding maturity of work reaching PMAP
- Enabling planned work orders at MFAV (Material Fully Available) by:
- Verifying with team / trade leads that preceding activities are on track
- Liaising with team / trade lead, Area Manager and Production Controllers to de-conflict the plan, ensure access will be available to complete the work and to review all other issues relating to task allocated work (including material issues)
- Supporting services URR (Unit Readiness Review) meetings when preparing to accept units/ start new key build activities
- Working with construction IPT to inform them of jig requirements in advance through the IPT meetings
- Highlighting any work which is held due to sequence, by applying the HSEQ (Health Sequence) flag, with the assistance of the Production Controller
- Reviewing work packs prior to PMAP(Project Management Approved)and again within the JPOK(Job Preparation OK) process, to ensure quality and data accuracy (confirm weld numbers have been identified and populated against work orders, pack and sheet numbers have been identified etc.), to ensure packs are right when given to the operators
Your skills and qualifications:
- Trade experience or has been in an operational / production role
- Organisational skills including being analytical and detail orientated
- Communication - to control behaviours and have influence over wider team
- Good numeracy skills with ability to learn and be comfortable with technical data, performance metrics and Good understanding of the planning process
- build relationships with Team / Trade Leaders and Planning teams
- Skilled in the use of standard Microsoft packages and specialist packages as required
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Team Center/SAP
