Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coordinator
Would you like to provide both direct and indirect support interventions and advice to our Early Careers learners across multiple sites, creating support plans and signposting to specialist support as required? We currently have a vacancy for a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coordinator at our site in Barrow.
As a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coordinator you will be providing advice, guidance and support to apprentices and Early Careers delivery and management teams in relation to Safeguarding, Wellbeing, Prevent and British Values.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to travel across the UK to support apprentices’ safety, mental health and wellbeing with extensive training opportunities.
Your main responsibilities as a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coordinator will involve:
- To provide both direct and indirect support interventions and advice to our Early Careers learners across multiple sites, creating support plans and signposting to specialist support as required.
- To support in the delivery of safeguarding, wellbeing, Prevent and British Values awareness training for our Early Careers learners
- To utilise MyConcern to keep an accurate, timely record of safeguarding concerns, monitor interventions, identify key themes and ensure relevant support is provided and key concerns escalated as necessary.
- To support in the delivery of safeguarding, wellbeing, Prevent and British Values training to staff involved in the delivery of Early Careers programmes, ensuring staff feel empowered to carry out their duties in line with company safeguarding policy and process.
- To provide both direct and indirect safeguarding support and referral interventions to our Early Careers staff, in addition to guidance to our delivery, management and support staff within our business and sub-contractors.
- To support on the development of well-being resources and activities across the Early Careers population providing central co-ordination in addition to localised support.
- To support and maintain the links with subcontractors, ensuring that the route to report safeguarding concerns is maintained and the safeguarding policy and relevant training is shared
- To regularly update staff on new legislation with regards to safeguarding and Prevent and provide regular communications and updates to the Early Careers community. eg. Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential
- Expert knowledge and experience of safeguarding and support of young people
- Experience and knowledge in relation to safeguarding, the Prevent Duty, British Values and Keeping Children Safe in Education 21.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of learners with social, emotional and mental health requirements.
- Experience of helping learners to create a safeguarding and wellbeing support and/ or safety plan
- Level 3 or above in Safeguarding or similar
- Evidence of recent CPD relevant to safeguarding
- GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above
- Enhanced DBS and full security clearance is essential
Desirable
- Experience of coordinating and delivering training and awareness in relation to safeguarding and Prevent
- Experience in maintaining and managing a central record of safeguarding concerns
- Experience in developing safeguarding and wellbeing resources for apprentices
- Experienced in supporting learners within an education and training environment
- Degree level qualification or equivalent

Location: Barrow
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 dependant on experience
