Job title: Early Careers Practitioner – 1st year delivery
Location: Barrow-in-Furness: Predominantly based at our BAE Office at Furness College and on occasion based onsite at Submarines Academy for Skills and Knowledge at our BAE Barrow site.
Salary: £35,000 +
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage the delivery of Early Careers & Skills process and practices across the 1st year apprentice delivery to the highest standard for new recruits, which serve to motivate, inspire and develop them through their apprenticeship programme.
- Effective engagement with, and management of, key internal and external stakeholders to co-ordinate delivery against Early Careers & Skills business outcomes.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert within given specialist area of Apprentice 1st year delivery and provide proactive advice, guidance and support to all relevant operational areas.
- Lead on the effective reporting of service performance, producing regular reports and KPI updates.
- Effective stakeholder and sub-contractor management to ensure service delivery is aligned to business need and expectation.
- Ensure currency with all government and business specific legislative requirements in relation to apprenticeship delivery, communicating key changes to relevant stakeholders.
Key Skills and Experiences
- Previous experience of working with apprentices or further education learners
- Project Management skills and experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
Desirable Skills and experiences
- A background in Education would be beneficial to this role along with any coaching, mentoring or training qualifications.
- Degree or equivalent – however this is by no means essential

The Early Careers team:
You will be working for The Submarines Academy of Skills and Knowledge (SASK), based in Barrow. Reporting into the Early Careers Manager this is a brand new role and an exciting opportunity which will enable you to support the selection of the future talent here at BAE Systems. Working within an expanding team which currently stands at 39, you will support the apprentices who are based at Furness College full-time along with supporting the Development Leader also based at the college.
