Job title: Simulator Technician
Location: RAF Lossiemouth. Working to a weekly shift pattern.
Salary: Up to £37k dependent upon someone’s skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Troubleshooting and repairing any defects that arise.
- Applying technical knowledge to solve problems by interpreting design drawings, manuals or device documents.
- Conducting system administration activities including account management and backup of systems.
- Ensuring discrepancies reported by instructors / aircrew are correctly recorded.
- Following the Query Answering and Fault Investigation process in accordance with the relevant Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation.
- Following the repair and replenishment process in accordance with the relevant CONOPS documentation.
- Liaising with instructors/aircrews throughout the shift to ensure that the simulators are always ready for use
- Ensuring that the device, Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and required Databases are set up prior to a training sortie, as required to meet the training schedule.
- Monitoring the simulator maintenance environment to ensure that the area is kept in a clean and safe condition.
- Performing maintenance in a safe manner in accordance with the documented maintenance procedures including risk assessments and hazard mitigation.
- Ensuring tool control processes are followed.
- Being familiar with and adhering to the Safety Briefing Guides
Your skills and experiences:
Essentials:
- Proven knowledge and/or experience of operating in a network environment (LANs/WANs)
- Proven ability problem solve tasks given within a specific time frame. This will include gathering information from approved data and a variety of sources in order to classify and resolve problems.
- Proven experience of using Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Desirables:
- Proven experience of working within a FastJet and/or Military background
- Proven experience of working on a Flight Simulation program (Military or Civilian)

The team:
The team are responsible for providing availability of 4 Typhoon cockpit trainers. These can be used by individuals or teams of 2, 3 or 4. Between training slots there is just 15 minutes to prepare for the next pilots. It is therefore essential to be able to work quickly and efficiently in order that training time isn’t lost. Communication with the Instructor Pilots is vital in getting the correct software load for the next slot. For any faults that occur during training, again communication is vital with the Instructors and/or the pilots. This will all be subject to the candidate getting the required security clearance prior to starting.
