Modelling and Simulation Engineer
Location: Warton. Hybrid/flexible working available
Salary: £42,760+ (dependent upon experience)
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, develop and support software modules within our architecture to expand the capabilities of battlespace simulation. The scope and breadth of the software challenges presented to the team are varied and ever changing, including user interface design, distributed systems, multithreading, physical systems, and artificial intelligence - both symbolic and deduced
- Support our analyst colleagues, collect and interpret their requirements, and help them meet their study needs
- Opportunity to design and execute simulated defence experiments and present results to senior stakeholders
- As your experience grows, we will expect you to lead a team in delivery of a specific software capability or study output
- You will be expected to implement our engineering and software development processes, but also help review and amend them as appropriate as part of our continual process improvement
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- A degree in a STEM subject (ideally in maths, physics or computer science), or equivalent relevant experience
- Some experience with writing software
- A proactive approach to problem-solving
Desirable:
- Knowledge of modelling and simulation
- An interest in working in the early stage of the engineering lifecycle
- Broad range of knowledge of aircraft systems at a top level or an interest in attaining knowledge

The Future Combat Air Systems team:
This new role is within a growing STEM team that is developing a mission simulation for future combat air systems. The purpose of the simulation is to evaluate concept options for an exciting international programme. There will be opportunities to collaborate with subject matter experts across the business, from other organisations in the UK, and overseas.
As a Modelling and Simulation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting software modules within our architecture. This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with the cutting edge of future combat air systems (FCAS) at the early stage of engineering lifecycle. Within this role you will be given the possibility to work across multiple engineering specialisms, making the difference in the programme.
