What you’ll be doing:

• Providing welding engineering guidance as well as support to structural and piping areas
• Undertaking Procedure Qualification Record development, testing and qualification of welding procedure specifications.
• Monitoring weld quality within structural and piping areas
• Investigating and reviewing emerging process technology and consumables
• Liaising with internal departments to ensure welding process control is enforced and maintained
• Producing monthly defect reports across all contracts for line management review
• Conducting routine process audits within production areas to investigate defect trends
• You’ll also have people manager responsibilities in this role.

Your skills and experiences:

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
• Recognised Welding Institute Qualifications - European Welding Engineer (EWE) or European Welding Technologist (EWT)
• Demonstrable experience of developing welding procedure specifications or similar experience and of dealing with weld repairs
• Broad awareness of ferrous and non-ferrous materials used for structural and piping applications and mechanised, orbital and/or automated welding techniques would be advantageous

The team:

The role of the team is to help to develop weld procedures and provide technical authority on boats in build. You will be tasked with executing, delivering and evaluating, complex engineering as well as cross functional tasks or programmes of work.
