Job title: Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant

Salary: £49,135 - £54,098 depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as the main point of contact for the monthly Chief Operating Officer (COO) FP&A activities and taking a lead role in ensuring the COO Finance Director and Finance team are fully supported, with all key Financial Reporting deadlines being achieved
- Leading the preparation of Financial briefing packs for senior review meetings at COO level (Monthly Forecast Review, Management Committee Reviews, Quarterly Board Review, Quarterly Finance Review, and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) (5-10 yr. budgets). Familiarity with key underlying business issues will be required to be developed
- Leading the collation, analysis and review of Half Year and Year End statutory reporting information and variances, including robust commentaries
- Leading the COO Integrated Business Plan (IBP) process (5-10 yr. budgeting), including preparation of reporting packs, schedules, and timetables, as well as reviewing of IBP data and submissions, challenging and querying submissions and consolidation for reviews
- As part of the wider Air FP&A team, collaborating with other integration leads to drive process improvements and efficiencies, supporting requirements to Air and helping embed standardisation of FP&A information across teams
- Leading the monthly & quarterly Balance Sheet review, ensuring timely and accurate completion of Balance Sheet review and update of all actions
- You’ll also have people manager responsibilities in this role
Your skills and experiences:
- CIMA, ACA or ACCA – Qualified
- A level of business acumen, with focus on improvements
- Advanced Excel skills and understanding of accounting standards
- Prior experience in a reporting role would be preferred
- Experience of TM1/Planning Analytics (Reporting tool) and Hyperion (HFM) desirable but not essential

BAES Systems Air Sector is a through-life business which delivers advanced military air capability both to our UK and many overseas customers. The mission of the COO is to enable and continuously improve the Air Sector’s foundations and deliver next generation capability, developing our markets. Key Financial areas within COO include Investment decisions and Costbase management.
Reporting to the Senior Reporting Finance Manager, as a Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant, based within the COO FP&A team, you will be supporting the COO Finance Director, COO Business Partners and Finance team as their COO FP&A lead on all aspects of financial performance. This includes monthly reporting and financial analysis, Integrated Business Plan submissions, inputs for Board presentations, half year and full year statutory reporting, support to internal and external audit.
