Salary: Up to £42,000 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

Maintaining, updating and publication of the Class CBS. Supporting CAMs in the collation, review, and presentation of actual and forecasted costs for their areas within CAM cost accounting review. Engaging with Ship Delivery Platform Managers and Delivery Leads to:

  • Conduct monthly review of FTE budget and spend to understand variance, support timely reporting, and progress cost inputs into contractual updates as required.
  • Conduct progressive reviews of Capability Insertion costs and profile of spend to enable timely contracting of baseline scope and growth whilst monitoring and reporting ongoing performance against budget
  • Collating and presenting assimilated class cost control performance against budgets within status reviews
  • Monthly Tier 3 reporting & Forecast of Outturn (FOO) reporting.
  • Supporting COM cost control inputs into: MoD annual budget (ABC) planning / 6 monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Understanding on-going class programme changes, as materialise, enabling their reflection in forecasting and subsequent reporting of sales and order implications.

Your skills and experiences:


  • Project Management background – experience of cost control (finance or controller area)
  • Experience of controlling budgets of up to £2m
  • Self-starter, strong communication skills, ability to engage, and commercial awareness


  • Experience within maritime, aerospace, Oil & Gas
  • Experience working with SAP, Risk and Opportunity areas

The Asset Management and Cost Control team:

You will assist in the delivery of maintenance to Portsmouth-based warships as a part of the Asset Management Cost Performance Team. Specifically focused on the Type 23 (Frigate) project, which ensures the delivery of Type 23 class ship maintenance within the Royal Navy's cost and budget. You will support the financial and cost delivery of Royal Navy platforms across classes as part of a larger class output management team, ensuring the continued availability and capability of Royal Navy platforms.

This position will provide you with access to project management training and development. You will be able to learn and develop skills in a variety of warship classes and supporting functions, allowing for skill development and exposure in the larger business
