Job title: Caulker
Location: Barrow – onsite requirement
Salary: £33,465
What you’ll be doing:
- You will be required to work alongside the quality function to ensure that all gouging, grinding and burning processes are carried out safely and in line with standards, schedule and quality requirements. The workload can differ from day to day depending on the needs of the business.
- On a daily basis the successful candidates will be working closely with the welding and quality teams to ensure that their work meets current quality standards.
- You will be gouging the circumferential butts of the submarine – (these are the ends of the two hull sections that are then joined and welded together). This would also include hatches, water tight doors, Air locks etc.
- You will also be burning off lifting eyes (these are used to place hooks whilst lifting and moving sections of the boat, they are then burnt off and ground to a high finish)
Your skills and experiences:
- Time Served Accredited Apprenticeship
- Proficient in Grinding, Burning and gouging to a very high quality standard
- Confident in Confined space and working at height
- The ability to work to a very high safety standard and working to right first time mind-set
