Job title: Engineering Manager - Product Safety

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Filton, Weymouth, or Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role

Salary: Up to £56,500 per annum

What you’ll be doing:

  • Checking and assuring the design and products produced by MOD key suppliers including BAE Systems for Combat Systems and OME (Ordnance Munitions & Explosives)
  • Participating and reviewing safety analysis, hazard analysis and safety case development for the submarine
  • Working with Subject Matter Experts in the MOD and across industry to assure safety of design and fitness for purpose
  • Building and presenting the Safety Case to the Naval Authority Group (NAG) for the submarine and its combat systems as safe for Royal Navy operation
  • Liaising with Product Environmental groups to build and present the environmental case for the submarine

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in STEM subject
  • Experience in Product Safety, Hazard Analysis and in producing robust and compelling ALARP (As low as reasonably practicable) and Safety Arguments
  • Previous experience liaising with authorities, regulators and various approving bodies
  • Experience of working with Ordnance Munitions & Explosives (OME)

Desirable:

  • Chartered status or working towards chartership
  • Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers (IExpE)
