Job title: Environmental and Sustainability Advisor
Location: Rochester
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Reporting and measuring our environmental impact of projects and Business Units with a particular focus on carbon and energy reporting
- Enhancing our reporting capability and systems
- Providing support and guidance to projects and departments on environment and sustainability matters
- Liaison with procurement and commercial teams to engage our supply chain and drive carbon reduction measures and wider responsible sourcing initiatives
- Following up on initiatives and best practice on a range of sustainability issues and providing feedback and case studies
- Carrying out environmental audits and inspections on our site
- Working collaboratively with Group resources on environmental programmes and internal communications
- Managing the environment and sustainability strategy and the EMS (Environmental Management System) and maintaining our ISO 14001 certification
- Implementing and managing our journey towards ISO 50001 certification
Your skills and experiences:
- Experience of project and/or corporate environmental management
- Degree in relevant discipline - i.e., Environmental Management or Environmental Science
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Comfortable carrying out detailed audits against our management systems and requirements of ISO 14001
- Must have a proven background in sustainability i.e. process changes, engagement pieces, methodologies
- Membership/Chartership of an appropriate professional institute e.g., Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) – desirable but will put through course

You will be working on the SHE team where you will play a clear part in delivering the Environmental Strategy, sustainability and energy efficiency improvements within our business to achieve our Net Zero strategy. As an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor, you will be providing environmental, sustainability and energy improvements, support, and guidance to BAE Rochester.
