Job title: Senior Engineer

Salary: Up to £48,900 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the (TAHS) Towed Array Handling System Engineering Manager and Underwater Surveillance Technical Authority in managing the design of (TAHS) for in-build and in-service submarines
  • Managing the design requirements of the next-generation systems for future submarines
  • Managing design change of the in-build and in-service submarine systems
  • Carrying out fault diagnosis and defect rectification and subsequent design improvement
  • Carrying out supplier visits to support the management of the build and integration of the systems
  • Being involved in design reviews, including those with suppliers, ship builder and the MoD customer
  • Supporting system integration and testing during build and sea trials

Your skills and experiences:

  • Degree level qualification in relevant engineering field such as electro/mechanical design engineering or equivalent
  • Experience interacting and building relationships with stakeholders of all levels, including suppliers and customers
  • Knowledge and experience of the full engineering life cycle, including requirements management, design, and integration is advantageous
  • Experience in a systems engineering or systems integration environment would be desirable

The Integrated Combat Systems (ICS) team:

The Underwater Surveillance Team sits within Integrated Combat Systems (ICS) and is a subset working on implementing and managing of some of the most integral Submarine systems, working at the very forefront of modern technology for underwater surveillance.

The team is also working across all phases of the engineering lifecycle on the design, build and integration of Towed Array Handling Systems (TAHS) on UK submarine platforms. The TAHS is designed and built by external suppliers, so it is important that you are able to maintain a close level of communication and stakeholder management to execute successful integration of the TAHS.
