Job title: Hunt Class Safety Engineer

Location: Portsmouth, we offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £ 55,800, dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Point of contact for Hunt Class Engineers and bring expertise to safety related issues
  • Supporting design change and design related activities to ensure new capability is integrated safely
  • Dealing with engineering challenges to ensure ships remain safe to operate.
  • Providing credible advice and guidance to project teams and our MOD customer on product safety issues
  • Analysing product safety using recognised good practice
  • Managing the safety and environmental output for Hunt class

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Degree, or equivalent experience, in STEM discipline
  • Clear understanding of safety engineering and assurance principles
  • Strong stakeholder management and diplomacy skills
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and Engineering legislation and standards

Desirable:

  • Regulatory framework training, such as, Ship Safety and Environmental Management Training (SEMT) or their predecessors (SSMT/SSMO)

The Asset Management team:

You will be a key part of the Hunt Warship Technical Authority which comprises a team of engineers covering several engineering disciplines. The Hunt Class are part of Asset Management, which also include support for QEC, T45, T23 and CLS. You will work across these multiple classes to share best practice in order to drive operation excellence.

Although no line management duties, this role has an opportunity to gain experience in resourcing management.
