What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing constructive input to the Platform & Secondary Propulsion Change Management Committee (Change Board)
  • Liaise with all Stakeholders relative to each change request
  • Provide support to the Configuration Manager and the Deputy Chief Engineer at the Dreadnought Design Control Board.
  • Act as the nominated PoC for the Platform & Secondary Propulsion Change Management Committee
  • Continuous improvement recommendations based on learning or new policy
  • Ongoing support to the Dreadnought Alliance change forums as we transition from Approving Authority and Technical Authority to a Joint Design Authority

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Qualified to degree level or higher in an engineering or closely related discipline, or an equivalent level of competence
  • Knowledge of Change Management
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management
  • Experience within Submarine or another highly regulated industry through Design or in-service

Desirable:

  • CM2 Qualified

The Alliance Configuration Control team:

The Dreadnought Alliance is formed between the Ministry of Defence’s Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce. The Alliance Engineering team are responsible for delivery of safe and fit for purpose Dreadnought submarines to the Whole Boat Technical Specification, through acting as the principal point of accountability for specific delegations, delivery and governance of major scopes of Alliance engineering activity.

The Senior Configuration Control Engineer role is responsible for the oversight of change notices that affect the Dreadnought platform. The role involves the assessment of design change proposed by the industry partner (the shipbuilder) and rationalises the potential impact upon the customer requirements, maintainability and operability of the product.

The role involves managing engineering change across the whole platform and thus requires a level of experience and understanding of Submarine Manufacturing and Design.
