Job title: Weights Engineer
Location: Warton – Hybrid and flexible working arrangements available
Salary: £49,135, depending on skills and experiences
What you’ll be doing:
- Creating and managing mass property models to be utilised to manage the mass data for all design standards
- Component and aircraft weighing activities, issuing risk class 1 data that will be uploaded to each aircraft
- Maintaining that data within very tight tolerances throughout the life of the aircraft
- Working with customers and delivering to time scales
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- HND/Degree in Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent with proven experience
- An awareness of mass properties engineering and its effects on military aircraft
- Good IT skills comfortable in the use and manipulation of Microsoft Excel and Mathsoft MathCad products
- Excellent record of delivery
- Read and understand engineering drawings
Desirable:
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Customer focused and excellent teamwork skills

The Weights Engineer team:
The role involves activities across the product lifecycle, including capability enhancement programmes, supporting production and especially being reactive to the urgent needs of our customers as they operate the aircraft in times of peace and in conflict. Assessing new designs through to managing mass properties of full aircraft, both within the flight-testing regimes and customer air force operations.
The team operates across multiple platforms and many customers and so the work is dynamic, the demands are high, there are opportunities to learn from skilled colleagues and the rewards are in directly contributing to our customers commitments by ensuring aircraft availability during some of the most demanding of environments.
