What you’ll be doing:
Supporting the Fire Safety Lead Engineer and take the lead in a number of projects to aid in the management of fire safety compliance activities
Develop fire safety elements of safety case documentation for the submarine platforms and the site nuclear license
Producing and reviewing fire strategies and fire risk assessments for buildings and submarines
Undertaking fire engineering calculations to support strategic decision making
Monitoring, recording and reporting against key performance indicators for fire safety through a variety of key stakeholder groups
Support in the production and maintenance of fire safety process documentation and management strategies
Supporting Commissioning Strategies for fire safety systems
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Experience in developing fire strategies and reviewing design information for fire safety compliance whilst working in an engineering or high hazard environment
Understanding of Fire Engineering calculations
A working knowledge of fire safety design guides including BS9999 and Approved Document B (ADB)
Desirable:
Ability to demonstrate an analytical and adaptable mind-set
Previous stake holder management experience

The CDH Fire & Explosion Safety team:
As a Senior Engineer – Fire Safety, you will be responsible for overseeing fire safety across key projects including the development of the safety cases, fire strategies and fire risk assessments for submarine facilities and vessels. You will also have the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders across the submarine projects as well as site redevelopment projects.This is a unique opportunity to deliver Fire safety on across several large scale and complex projects as part of significant infrastructure development plan.
There are excellent future progression opportunities which include Principal Engineer and Engineering Management positions within the team which will be supported by the availability of further training and qualifications to develop specific specialities in the field of Fire Safety.There is also the opportunity to work flexibly between attending the site at Barrow-in-Furness and to work from home.
