What you’ll be doing:
- Developing, agreeing and implanting the Procurement strategies and promoting cross functional collaboration
- Leading the timely identification, analysis and resolution of internal and external issues – escalating when appropriate
- Managing supplier risk, seek out and identifying and delivering opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings
- Recording and reporting cost savings / cost avoidance / supplier risk and delivering ongoing cost analysis
- Undertaking the continuous review of Supplier performance and development activities using business KPI’s
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Professional knowledge/understanding of Procurement principles, techniques and practices
- Awareness of legal environment related to purchasing contracts and framework agreement
- Good supplier and stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- CIPS qualified or equivalent, working towards CIPS or suitable experience in a relevant role
Desirable:
- Good negotiation and influencing skills - internal colleagues, Engineering, PM, Operations, Quality functions, Suppliers and 3rd Party Providers
- Ability to work under own initiative and prioritise as appropriate
- Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft packages and business system

The Supply Chain team: The supply chain team for Combat Systems delivers Combat Systems for complex Naval ships across the UK Defence and International Programmes. The role will lead a programme within the Procurement realm. Working as part of a team you will undertake activities to support the Programme Managers in the delivery of procurement contracts for a variety of ship equipment, complex systems commodities and materials
