Job title: Lead Information System Security Officer
Location: RAF Coningsby/ RAF Lossiemouth – this role will include shift work and occasional travel
Salary: £35,629.00 + depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Working as a Team Leader to promote a mind-set of secure IT systems and practices transferring knowledge of security standards and processes to the wider user community
- Perform continuous monitoring activities on Typhoon Training systems to ensure defined security standards are maintained. This will include physical infrastructure checks
- Supporting system risk assessments and accreditation activities, maintaining accreditation documents in line with identified changes to the organisation threat profile ensuring stakeholder satisfaction
- Ensuring all activity audits and compliance audits on systems and processes are completed within the specified timescales; all documentation maintained and updated accordingly so to ensure regulatory compliance
- Investigating and managing any anomalies with the relevant subject matter expert (SME) to resolution and assisting in wider investigations as required
Your skills and experiences:
- Must hold (or have the ability to attain) a Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance, with the ability to be read onto STRAP
- Knowledge of IT system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards and operational security measures
- Knowledge of using commercial auditing tools such as SPLUNK, Event Log Analyser (ELA) and the built-in Windows Event Viewer and HMG IA Standard 5 sanitation procedures an advantage
- Some awareness of a project environment and awareness of lifecycle methodologies and MOD security policies would be an advantage

As a Lead ISSO you will lead a dynamic team who are responsible for safeguarding the Typhoon Training infrastructure against cyber security threats. You will be working on a project of significant strategic importance in the organisation providing security input and advice.
