Job title: Engineering Manager – Structural Engineering (Shock and Dynamics)

What you’ll be doing:
- Lead and develop a team of engineers in the simulation and validation of structures and equipment subjected to naval shock events (Naval Shock experience is not a necessity)
- Act as technical authority providing structural design guidance at design reviews with respect to naval shock load cases
- Set budgets and resource requirements for a team across multiple large-scale programmes
- Lead the development of internal simulation and validation procedures and govern evidence of compliance to product requirements
- Act as approving authority for design calculations
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- Mechanical Engineering Degree (or STEM degree)
- Experience of undertaking structural design calculations (i.e., bolted joints / bending moment / shear stress)
- Understanding of the principles of mechanics and dynamics
- Understanding of material strength properties and limits
- Experience of developing design justification documentation to demonstrate compliance to product requirements
- People leadership experience or a demonstration in leading an area

Shock and Dynamics Team:
This is an exciting opportunity, in a niche field, that applies engineering skills to design and qualify equipment subjected to naval shock. The successful candidate will be working across multiple submarine programmes, at different stages of the product lifecycle, and will influence the product design to meet naval shock requirements. The successful candidate will be supported with training and career development opportunities.
