What you’ll be doing:
- Using the CAD tool to produce 3D models of electrical systems and equipment integration
- Producing 2D drawing outputs to a demanding schedule to support the manufacturing and production teams in product build and delivery
- Maturing the 3D model and producing 2D drawing outputs
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with interfacing teams and team members
- Working with the client to produce an integrated design that meets their expectations and agreed set of requirements
- Provide expertise of own discipline to teams
- To act as a focal point for discipline specific tasks ensuring best practices are adopted
Your skills and experiences:
Essential skills:
- Relevant engineering qualification or previous experience as an Electrical Designer/Draughtsperson/ Electrician or HNC/NVQ Electrical Designer qualification
- Sufficient experience to be able to identify all the issues involved in their area of responsibility
- A comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing processes used within the business
Desirable skills:
- Submarine or shipbuilding product knowledge from an electrical discipline perspective
- Experience and knowledge of a CAD toolset 2D Drawing & 3D Modelling

The Design team:
You will be working in the Electrical Designer discipline carrying out 3D modelling (design and integration) of various electrical systems and compartment integration of electrical equipment. The role also includes work to produce a bill of materials for your specific area in the submarine design and will provide you with the challenge of working with the stakeholder group to drive the successful resolution of design vs spatial problems. Future career progression could include Principal Designer or leadership roles within the team.
These roles also offer paid overtime, subject to business requirements
