Job Title: Principal System Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base

Salary: Up to £52,000 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

    Providing systems engineering to support the introduction of new capability across a wide range of equipment domains (e.g., satellite and conventional communications, mixed media Ethernet networks, radar, C4ISR…)

      Hold Delegation of Engineering Design Change Authority from the Mission System DTA when authorised

        Ensuring that the design change safety case has integrity, is comprehensive, coherent, and consistent

          Developing reactive solutions to engineering problems, by survey on board QEC platforms and the application of own expertise and engineering judgement

            Leading and managing engineering staff; ensuring each team member is assessed, developed, deployed and skilled to maximise their personal contribution and to meet the requirements of contracts, schedules, and specifications

            Your skills and experiences:

              Competent and experienced systems engineer, with a background in integrating physical equipment design

                Experience in integrating complex equipment into larger system-of-systems, ideally within a maritime environment

                  Proven experience in a highly regulated engineering industry and leading / managing engineering teams

                    BEng or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering / CEng (or working towards) support towards would be funded

                    The QEC Warship Technical Authority (WTA) team comprises a broad range of industry subject matter experts. Working collaboratively at the waterfront with the MoD, Royal Navy, and industry partners, we maintain and improve the capability of the Royal Navy’s largest surface ships. This is an excellent chance to oversee an energetic team of engineers supporting the largest warships in the UK, with room for growth and diversification in design and engineering management.
