Job title: Linux System Lead

Salary: Up to £57,300 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain and own configuration of High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, application and operating system
  • Ensure the workload management system (BPS Pro) configuration remains optimised for throughput whilst facilitating business priorities placed on the HPC
  • Network Performance Monitoring (InfiniBand network) and Storage Monitoring and Management (Lustre File System)
  • Supplier and end user engagement sessions
  • Continual Service Improvement and develop and maintain tools to analyse and report data for the HPS facilities
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures (utilising HPE HPCM) in line with relevant policies, processes, and service level agreements for the facilities
  • Plan and implement physical infrastructure deployments for expansion or environment refresh

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Linux System Admin
  • STEM related degree or equivalent working experience in an IT environment

Desirable:

  • HPC Linux experience
  • HPC Workload Management experience
  • Previous experience leading or managing a small team

The High-Performance Computing Team:

An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available within the Engineering Systems Competency Centre (ESCC) as a High-Performance Computing Technical Lead.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to take a highly technical and leading role in delivering, maintaining, and supporting high performance computing activities, across various engineering projects and programmes within BAE Systems.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is proactive, diligent and can lead a small team of engineers in a dynamic environment. Career progression is encouraged and supported within the ESCC and across the wider business.
