Job Title: Energetic Materials Scientist

What you’ll be doing:
- Assist Energetic Material/Process subject matter experts in providing energetic material advice and support
- Undertaking research and development activities, from scoping and planning, completing practical experiments, to data analysis and report writing
- Interacting with products and processes throughout the factory to understand the challenges presented by energetic materials in process
- Supporting business winning and project planning activities by compiling technical input during the bid preparation phase
- Ensuring all process activities are carried out safely and in accordance with business processes
- Contribution to papers for publication in peer reviewed journals and presentation at symposia, whilst participating in external working groups with industry, academia and government
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Recognised science qualification, preferably to degree level, but minimum HND/HNC, preferably with a good knowledge of chemistry
- Good practical skills in a laboratory or engineering environment
- Ability to work within a close-knit team and to stringent safety processes
Desirable:
- Understanding of polymeric systems
- Experience of safe systems of work
- Experience of working with hazardous materials or processes
- Ability to write high quality technical reports

The Engineering and Technology Team:
Your role will support new technology development projects for future energetic materials and support product and process development in small, medium and high volume environments for BAE Systems Land UK.
