Job Title: Software Engineer

Salary: Up to £49,760 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
Produce/review and maintain a software design to meet a set of software requirements
Use a software design to produce a deliverable software solution, including certification activities
Test a software solution to prove that is meets its design aims and requirements
Maintain a software solution to address reported defects and/or add new functionality
Investigating and resolving obsolescence issues, problems and tasks raised during any stage of the software development lifecycle
Knowledge and experience with typical Automatic Test Equipment hardware including COTS. VXI/PXI/RIO test systems experience is desirable
Act as Design Authority for specified items of test equipment software
Your skills and experiences:
Qualified in a related software/electronics discipline to HNC/HND/Degree level
Contribute to technical proposals and tenders as directed in order to provide costed proposals for future work
Experience of coding in a variety of software textual and graphical software languages (i.e. C, C++, Python, LabView is desirable)
Experience of using a high level design methodology
A good understanding of configuration management and experience of a configuration management tool

The Software Engineering team:
You will be working in a multidisciplinary team providing a comprehensive and effective support service for the test equipment used to support the UK’s Heavyweight and Lightweight Torpedo capability. The team sits within the Product & Training Services area of BAE Systems Maritime Services which covers Radar, Training, Underwater Weapons and Small Boats products.
