Job title: Buyer

Salary: Up to £39,660
What you’ll be doing:
- The Buyer role will focus on providing day-to-day procurement activities, either through the management of day-to-day routine procurement activities, or by supporting strategic procurement initiatives or projects
- The Buyer role will deal with stakeholders both within Supply Chain, in customer functions and in suppliers to ensure that day-to-day objectives around quality, cost and delivery are achieved
- Furthermore, the role will entail knowledge of basic transactional procurement technologies as well as an understanding of the basics of contract law, negotiation, and supplier management technique
- Be commercially aware and to establish strong working relationships with suppliers
- Understanding of drawing and specification requirements
- Ensure robust contractual arrangements with the supply chain including flow down of project conditions
Your skills and experiences:
- Understanding of supply chain process
- Procurement experience essential
- Requires knowledge of basic Supply Chain technologies as well as an understanding of the basics of contract law, negotiation, supplier management, MRP systems and any other relevant Logistics or Planning systems
- IT skills are required to perform the role effectively, Microsoft office – knowledge of Word & Excel required
- Good communication skills

Working in an established team undertaking Commodity buying in support of manufacturing programs at both Broad Oak Works (Underwater Weapons), Hillend, Radar contracts & Small Boats.
