Job Title: Cost Engineer/Analyst
Location: Glasgow, Bristol, Portsmouth, Frimley; We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
Undertaking cost evaluation activities, understanding and evaluating the impact of external market changes, preparing and agreeing costed commercial proposals
Delivering cost savings opportunities through life as a result of innovative thinking, LEAN tools application, practical problem solving and stakeholder engagement (internally and within the supply chain)
Ensuring a co-ordinated approach to cost management by working alongside other functions, including engineering, manufacturing, programme management and estimating to understand customer need, challenge requirements, identifying and managing risk and opportunity
Facilitating functionally to identify and influence key cost drivers, through the lifecycle from design to disposal, seeking solutions that drive additional value and increase our market competitiveness on current and future programmes
Being responsible for development and delivery of cost savings plans
Working collaboratively at an enterprise level within BAE Systems to share best practices and identify innovative solutions to achieve Optimised Total Cost across the programme lifecycle
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Cost Management skills including Value Engineering and Should Cost Modelling
Strong understanding of commercial contracts
Strong financial analysis skills
Experience of change management and continuous improvement tools and techniques
Desirable:
Professional Qualification in Supply Chain /Cost Management
Understanding of Value Stream Mapping / LEAN tools
Understanding of Project Management principles
Demonstrable experience in a Commercially Competitive Commercial or Engineering Organisation
