Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Cowes
Salary: Up to £57,810 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
Analyse software requirements, create software design updates to support software implementation, ensuring that the overall system will behave according to its requirements
Write software according to coding standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and identifying pragmatic solutions
Write software test schedules and run them to test the system, demonstrating compliance with the requirements
Document appropriate information, so that others can understand the software and the system.
Contribute to process improvement within the team to ensure that the team always looks to improve how it works
Liaise with other team members, teams and customers to ensure key information is understood
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Degree in Computer Science or other relevant subject, or equivalent experience
Structured Software Design experience, using formal methods
Experience with all phases of the software development lifecycle
Experience of UML or similar high level design methodology
Excellent software coding, integration and testing skills, ideally with a real time, multi-processor focus
Experience of configuration control systems
Desirable:
Extensive knowledge of programming languages C and/or Ada
Good knowledge and experience with COTS hardware, device drivers and interface standards, including Ethernet, VME

The Software team:
Our dynamic team of software engineers support the development and maintenance of software that is part of Naval and land based radar products that are fitted to several of the Royal Navy fleet and ground based solutions in the UK and other countries. These engineers work at solutions in the office and those who occasionally visit sites and ships as well as those taking part in trials.
We have a range of exciting projects coming up from extending the current capability of the Sampson MFR radar, equipment obsolescence with associated software changes and support to existing systems and platforms. This really is a thrilling time to be part of the software team involved in these opportunities.
