Job title:Engineering Technician - Welding

What you’ll be doing:
Undertake welding development projects, activities and production support under guidance of Welding Engineers
Utilise welding processes and technologies to generate weld coupons in support of consumable assessment, procedure qualification and emergent production issues and provide input based on experience
Assist Welding Engineers with weld development, testing and quality investigations and audits of production areas
Prepare and review welding documentation
Support research into advances in welding process technology, assess potential applications for current and future projects
Receipt inspection and testing of welding consumables to ensure compliance with relevant Technical Specifications
Your skills and experiences:
Time served welder plus 3yrs (min) post apprenticeship welding experience
Experience of welding a range of materials, using a variety of relevant welding techniques - this could include manual, mechanised or orbital processes
3 GCSE (A* - C) or equivalent including Maths and Science
IT literate and familiar with Microsoft Office Software

The Materials Technology team:
The Materials Technology Team comprises of approximately 20 welding engineers and technicians working across the three submarine programmes, providing technical support for all weld related activities on site and adjacent BAE businesses.
Working with a wide range of metallic materials and welding processes, the team are responsible for the development and implementation of new and innovative processes to ensure our continued success and maintain our position at the forefront of weld engineering and process technology.
