Calling all Mechanical Fitters, in the central belt of Scotland, BAE Systems are hosting recruitment events on Tuesday 20th June at Novotel hotel Edinburgh Park from 2pm to 19:30pm, Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd June at Hampden Park, Glasgow from 2pm to 19:30pm. We are looking to speak with time-served Mechanical Fitters to join our growing team at our Naval Ships site in Scotstoun and Govan. Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Govan and Scotstoun
Salary: £33,380.00 - 33% shift allowance were applicable
Key Responsibilities:
Machinery and plant installation
Levelling and laser alignment of mechanical equipment
Torque of equipment – tightening to a certain degree
Working to tight tolerances with equipment
Dimensional controls equipment e.g. laser measuring devices
Drilling and tapping of holes
Marking off
Jig Fabrication
Working with hydraulics
Pipework
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Time served apprenticeship
Relevant tool experience abrasive wheels & confined space ability to use hand tools
Mechanical background and Experience within Mechanical Fitter
Desirable:
Dimensional alignment experience
Ship building and Shipyard experience
Dimensional control / Quality control
Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Shaft Install alongside Shaft Coupling Driving up
