Job title: Counsel – Supply Chain and Public Law

Location: Farnborough: We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £60,000 + depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide generalist / specialist English law advice to our Global Supply Chain and UK Government Relations teams
  • Legal Specialism in contract law (procurement)
  • Work with Government Relations and Legal Capability Manager to identify prospective legal changes which may affect BAE Systems in the UK
  • Generalist support such as advising on contract matters, including with customers and suppliers as well as collaboration agreement, non-disclosure agreement and other agreement areas
  • Advising on legal policy issues, including on compliance and supporting broader legal issues arising within the business
  • Where necessary liaising with specialist lawyers, for example on dispute resolution matters
  • Provide advice on non-English law matters, whether in collaboration with relevant internal lawyers who are qualified in that non-English law jurisdiction, or with external lawyers, qualified in that non English law jurisdiction

Your skills and experiences:

  • Good understanding of commercial legal and business practice in a range of international markets
  • If a generalist lawyer, a strong understanding of contract law, public procurement, anti-bribery and corruption, and defence sector specific issues such as export control, as well as intellectual property and data protection

As part of a first class, collaborative and friendly team, which sits as part of our Head Office legal function, this is an exciting opportunity to gain wide ranging exposure in a fast moving area of law. You will work in a team of two and so will have frequent exposure to work at a Group level with the opportunity to work with senior stakeholders matters of strategic importance to the Group.
