Job title: Digital Engineering Lead – Structural Systems Design

Location: Warton – Hybrid and flexible working arrangements available

Salary: £52,084 - £57,344 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Creating a target state vision for your structural system design
  • Ensuring alignment with the overall FCAS Digital Engineering Roadmap to achieve an integrated, end-to-end FCAS product development system
  • Co-designing and delivering the structural systems design solutions (processes, methods, tools, technology, people, data) alongside software vendor partners, internal engineering function and project stakeholders and other product owners
  • Executing proof-of-concept and proof-of-value demonstrations - providing confidence that the new product development approach meets the time and cost goals for the FCAS Programme
  • Leading business change, including communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, building coalitions, and creating urgency
  • Liaising with international and UK partners to discuss, agree and deploy a solution works across the whole FCAS enterprise

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Ability to analyse information and apply engineering judgement to solve problems
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, visualisation, or modelling, to managers, peers, and external parties
  • Experience in design of aerospace structures and associated processes, methods, and tools
  • Professional Qualification: Relevant Engineering/STEM degree (BEng or Higher)

Desirable:

  • Experience of different stages of the Product Lifecycle - Concept Design through to Integration and Test
  • Be comfortable working with ambiguity, challenging established thinking, innovating, creating new ways of working and leading change

The FCAS Digital Engineering Team are paving the way for breakthroughs in new product development, operational performance, support, and maintenance. By exploiting the latest digital technologies, data and the new engineering thinking to create better, faster and more cost-effective outputs we are providing the foundation to deliver the Global Combat Air Programme across the UK, Japan and Italy. We are rethinking the way that aircraft are developed and supported streamlining our processes and bringing together people, technology, and data to reduce cost and product development lead time.
