Job title: Principal Engineer Gunnery
Location: Scotstoun and Govan, Glasgow (Office and ship based)
Salary: Up to 48,540 (depending on qualifications and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
Support to Gunnery Engineering Manager (EM) in the enactment and execution of project objectives undertaking technical work activities within a systems engineering context
Engaging with Internal and External stakeholders, Engineering Managers, Project Managers and Technical Authorities to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied appropriately and problems/issues are mitigated and resolved to ensure Programme is maintained on Schedule
MIFS: Automatic Handling System (AHS) Technical Lead when communicating with supplier representatives and internal teams to discuss and resolve technical issues and problems
AHS Technical Lead in support to the Transversal Teams in the overall optimisation of the MIFS physical integration design, addressing Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (EEE), Vulnerability, Armour, Safety, ILS, Signatures, Shock, Humans Factors and Security
AHS Technical Lead when engaging with the Platform System teams to ensure that platform system interfaces are captured fully and agreed with the customer
Cohesive interaction with the MIFS OEM onsite team including ITAR Control and adherence to applicable ITAR processes and procedures
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Substantial years’ experience of Physical and Functional integration of Combat System equipment in a Naval environment
Previous experience of operating within a technical team, and can provide coaching and mentoring to others within the team to support their development
Experience working in a fast-paced environment using SME knowledge to solve challenges to keep the project on track
Desirables:
Understanding of role within Requirements and Acceptance process including evidence gathering for Acceptance Criteria and interaction with Requirements Management, Technical and Acceptance Authorities
Understanding of System Engineering design Lifecycle within a Naval Environment
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered

The Principal Engineer – Gunnery team:
As the Principal Engineer – Gunnery, you will be reporting to the T26 Gunnery Engineering Manager and Gunnery CAM and will act as the Ammunition Handling System (AHS) Technical Lead with overall responsibility for the technical maturity of the project including the technical delivery of the project to time, cost, and quality.
