Job title: Maritime Integration Support Centre (MISC) Senior Engineering Manager
Location: Portsmouth (Flexible working available)
Salary: Up to £70k depending on skills and experience
The Maritime Integration Support Centre is a world-leading Integration and Test facility for naval surface platforms. In collaboration with our customers and partners we deliver a critical role through our facility enabling the confident, safe and assured integration of complex systems. The MISC Senior Engineering Manager will play a pivot role in the continued delivery of our facility with a focus on the facility infrastructure, alongside maintenance of key combat systems equipments.
What you’ll be doing:
You will be responsible for maintaining the material state of the MISC building and for the availability of its facilities and equipment. Working in collaboration with a contracted third party facilities support organisation, your facility team will be delivering an effective, efficient and important facility service directly to our customers and partners
You will lead the development and delivery of a MISC Engineering Management Plan. This plan will provide the framework upon which all MISC engineering activities will be conducted. It will include consideration of technical risks and opportunities, business process and policy management, resource management and overall facility delivery including achievement of our contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
You will oversee the maintenance and support of the MISC building and its installed Commercial and Military equipment. Further you will lead with the introduction of new facilities and equipment. This will be done with cognisance and vision as we further develop our site wide architecture, and seek to enhance our facility capabilities
You will lead and manage the MISC Facility Engineering Team to deliver on all aspects of facility management including operations management, equipment maintenance, equipment installation, goods management and logistics
You will regularly liaise with the MISC SHE Lead and MISC Security advisors to ensure safe and secure operations
You will work alongside the MISC Project Manager to ensure all aspects of schedule, cost and quality are controlled and that the team are delivering
Your skills and experiences:
Essentials:
- Able to build effective and productive Peer, Supplier and Customer relationships
- Good planning skills with experience of developing and delivering engineering schedules of work and managing multiple concurrent activities with wide stakeholder groups
- Ability to promote coherent engineering standards
- Ability to motivate, coach and develop teams and deliver results
Desirables:
- Have previous experience as a Royal Navy Weapons Engineer Officer, and/or familiarity with combat systems equipment
- Previous experience of military equipment installation and through life support - including all levels of maintenance
- Recent previous experience as a Hard Facilities Manager for an industrial building
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Facility Management Team:
As the MISC Senior Engineering Manager you will be responsible for a team of 9 people, but will be asked to work collaboratively with a wider stakeholder group on a daily basis.
The role is based in the MISC in Portsmouth, with all team members collectively working and delivering the facility services from this same location.
The MISC Senior Engineering Manager role reports directly to the Combat Systems Head of Integration Services, forming part of the Integration Services leadership team.
