Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Dimensional Management

What you’ll be doing:
Identify and manage key dimensional variation across the boat
Identify key characteristics that require control
Analyse pertinent historical manufacturing capability data
Assess tolerances, datums and GD&T to create an understanding of the assembly relationships and "build-up" of parts that contribute to the variation in the boat's key characteristics
Create Quality Plans, Pictorial Measurement Instructions and establish hold points in the detail process plans
Identify and validate metrology
Work closely with Operations to manage key characteristics throughout build providing dimensional build-line support where necessary
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Minimum of an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Excellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in drawings and CAD
Basic understanding of dimensional measurement systems and principles
Desirable:
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma/APQP
Understanding of Submarines Build Strategy
Experience working with Siemens NX and Teamcenter

Manufacturing Engineering Team:
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be pivotal in identifying and assessing key product characteristics, in the design. It'll be your role to define plans for controlling these characteristics during build, helping to reduce variation, ultimately reducing lead times and cost to the business and the customer.
