What you’ll be doing:
Strategy - Lead the development of a Logistics and Inventory Management strategy for the Air sector, drawing on external leading practice and working with the lines of business and service delivery units
Partnerships – Lead the relationship with our partners, suppliers, service providers and customers to deliver the Air Logistics & Inventory Management strategy; assessing options, developing plans and building business cases.
Subject Matter Expertise - SME for the Air sector working with business teams and internal service delivery units to design logistics solutions in support of future bids and current contracts
Contract and operation management of external providers and internal teams providing the key logistics, warehousing and distribution services for the sector:
-Inbound logistics from suppliers, partners, customers (e.g., reverse logistics for repairs)
-Outbound logistics to customers, partners, suppliers (e.g., material free issue, repairs)
-Defence Logistics Centre (DLC) and other warehousing/storage facilities
-Internal factory logistics – i.e., delivery to point of use
-Transportation services
Service Excellence - Lead the relationship and operational interface with the business, service delivery teams, customer logistics operations and their service providers including establishing performance KPIs/SLAs and management review frameworks
Operational Excellence – Establish, deploy and deliver a performance improvement programme to drive operational excellence
Import and Export Control - Lead the interface with the Import/Export team to ensure documentation/information requirements for logistic movements are fulfilled and governance requirements met
Logistics Discipline - Work with business, service delivery and finance teams to establish inventory management policy, KPIs and lead inventory optimisation processes and capabilities (people and toolsets)
Your skills and experiences:
Strong experience in a logistics and/or transportation leadership role
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Operating with a high level of autonomy to deliver and integrate a complex programme of work
Balancing drive operational and service excellence with a focus on transformation and continuous improvement
Managing multiple, senior level stakeholders to deliver a consistent outcome
Synthesising complex actions and activity into tangible, delivery focused actions
Solving problems and make decisions
Taking an adaptive leadership style to motivate and engage the team
Institute for Logistics and Transportation certification is desirable

The Logistics team:
You will be involved in transformation and operational excellence for one if the biggest defence companies in the world. This will include Inventory, Logistics Optimisation and Warehousing and will be delivered via outputs to the customer and taking ownership of services to contract, through engaging and monitoring service providers within warehousing and logistics and transportation.
