Job Title: Coating and Corrosion Engineer

What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and understanding of and support the delivery and authoritative corrosion protection advice and guidance (metallurgy & coatings) to all functions
- Work with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain on emergent issues arising during submarine design, build, commissioning, and in-service
- Develop an understanding of and support the delivery of corrosion protection advice and guidance to Submarine design
- Support the Corrosion and Coatings Lead with running and maintenance of paint schedules
- Provide support to the Corrosion and Coatings Lead with the development of schedules for SSNA
- Support the review of supplier technical queries, contract deliverables and special processes related to metallurgy, corrosion prevention and coatings
Your skills and experiences:
- Qualified to a degree level (BEng/BSc) in metallurgy or materials science
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy
- Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and prevention
- Experience in conducting research

The Coatings and Corrosion Team:
As the Coatings and Corrosion Engineer you will be working in a team of 4 to deliver and develop the coatings strategies for each of our projects from Dreadnought, SSNA and beyond. Within this the opportunity to develop is planned and to support the engineer with specific courses ran through ICorr and similar. Within the team there are people in the role to coach and support you with their 20+ years of knowledge in the area.
