We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our team, you will assist in the day-to-day activities of the GBE-N finance team following and adhering to requirements of the Finance Department, working timelines and scheduled activity requirements to ensure that timely and accurate financial information is provided for use in the compilation of monthly financial accounts and associated reporting.
Your role will be to produce and provide accurate and timely financial information to the finance department colleagues and to collaborate effectively with stakeholders internally and also with external suppliers and information providers.
Day to day duties:
- Assist in managing the nominal ledger for GBE-N and associated entities using Access financial software, ensuring accurate maintenance and secure backups.
- Invoice customers and manage debtors, ensuring timely reporting on a weekly basis.
- Support the Accounts Payable personnel in maintaining and reconciling the purchase ledger, ensuring accuracy and regular reconciliation of key supplier accounts.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Record all revenue in a timely manner each month with supporting schedules.
- Keep reconciliation schedules up to date throughout the month.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheet control accounts.
- Contribute to the compilation of year-end financial information for external audits as required.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and explanations.
- Other ad-hoc duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Ideally, you will have previous experience in finance accounts roles, contributing to finance department deliverables and targets.
- Experience in public sector, central government, or local government is beneficial but not required.
- Strong finance and accounting background.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to manage time effectively and focus on meeting deadlines.
- Self-motivated, well-organised, and able to work independently.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Xero or Access software is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on building effective finance business partnerships.
Qualifications
- AAT Level 4 qualified is desirable but not essential.
