To be an Inspiring leader of a team of SME Relationship Directors and Relationship Managers within a defined Geographic area, successfully coaching their team to high performance by delivering client centric solutions. They will have responsibility for ensuring that their team delivers an excellent client experience whilst supporting them to identify opportunities to grow income, balance sheet returns and market share and manage any associated risks. They will do this in a way that continually seeks to develop their colleagues, improve professional standards and by being an expert user of colleague tools (e.g. Contact Planner, BUDI, Working Capital Management Tool and International Trade Portal) to drive added value to clients. The role holder will be responsible for building powerful internal and external networks to support their colleagues in bringing the whole bank to the clients. The majority of their time will be spent coaching, developing and supporting their team. The Area Director Role requires good awareness of the internal and external environment and be able to articulate how this relates to our strategy. They will also be responsible for their own personal development and are expected to be motivated to improve their own and their teams personal effectiveness with an emphasis on digital capability and agility. As an Area Director you’ll be an inspiring leader of SME Relationship Directors and Managers. You'll coach, empower and develop colleagues to optimum performance, ensuring they deliver an excellent client experience whilst finding opportunities to grow income, balance sheet returns, market share and manage any associate risks. You'll do this in a way that continually seeks to develop your colleagues, improve professional standards and by becoming an authoritative advocate of internal colleague tools crafted to drive added customer value.
As a pivotal part of the East England Leadership team you'll build powerful networks to support the team to bring the whole bank to customers. The majority of your time will be spent mentoring, developing and supporting your team to be the most capable and effective they can be for our clients but you’ll also have a key external focus too, being a positive ambassador for the Group in the market.
Adept at communicating with authenticity and vision, you'll have strong awareness of the internal and external environment to articulate how these factors relate to our strategy and bring your people positively through times of change and ambiguity.
Your accountabilities include:
- To contribute, as a member of Regional Board, to the strategic leadership and planning of the Region in partnership with other senior members of staff under the overall direction of the Regional Director.
- Role model client centric behaviour through personal demonstration and speaking out when not observed in others
- Through inspiring leadership and promotion of Equal Opportunities, motivate, develop, mentor and appraise team members, so that individual and collective performance delivers stretching business goals.
- Supervise and manage appropriate deployment of resources.
- Develop the capability of the Relationship team and utilise specialist knowledge to support them in all aspects of their work, specifically developing their own local business plans and run their client portfolio to ensure full adherence with all policy and compliance requirements. Provide oversight to developing, structuring and assessing client proposals to meet customer requirements and find opportunities to further develop income; guiding, recommending and supporting implementation of the appropriate solutions.
- Regularly evaluate the team’s performance against business objectives, including the supervision of regulated products (where the role requires), recognising individual / team achievement and taking corrective action where appropriate.
- Provide the appropriate support to the relationship management of clients and introducers in and across client segments, ensuring effective response to their business needs through all the available offers. Regularly interacting with complex clients at MDs, FDs and Boards of Director level.
- Promote the bank’s image in the local community/market with a range of partners including influential, high value clients in order to support development of new business opportunities.
