Commercial Banking provides support to corporate clients through the provision of core banking products, such as lending, deposits and transaction banking services. Whilst also offering clients expertise in capital markets (private placements, bonds and syndicated loans), financial markets (foreign exchange, interest rate management, money market and credit) and private equity. This enables us to meet the varying and sometimes complex needs of all types of corporate clients.
As an Associate in our Leveraged Finance team, you will contribute to the team’s overall business plan and strategy – executing structured debt transactions for private equity-owned and sub-investment grade corporate clients across both the mid and large cap markets. You will play an integral role as part of the deal team in executing transactions, both guiding Analysts and supporting Associate Directors and Directors. The role includes supporting across all stages of a transaction from originating, preparing and presenting pitching materials, undertaking financial and credit analysis (including formulation of financial models), preparing and presenting materials for internal approvals and supporting legal documentation and deal execution. As part of the team, you will support clients via utilisation of Lloyds’ balance sheet, as well as leading and supporting on the provision of syndicated loan and high yield bond products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting origination of leveraged debt transactions for private equity owned and sub-investment grade corporate clients
- Preparation and presentation of marketing materials for clients
- Preparation of transaction models
- Preparation and presentation of internal deal committee applications and reports
- Execution of transactions, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders and product partners, ensuring that products are appropriately structured and priced and that activity is aligned to the goals and values of the Group
- Supporting the documentation and due diligence process for transactions
- Research future opportunities, analysing complex data to support client interaction and product offering
- Establishing and supporting senior colleagues with building and maintaining a growing network of internal stakeholders and external market relationships to originate transactions
- Undertake the role in accordance with the requirements of the company's Regulators, including FCA's Principles for Business
Requirements:
- Credit and financial analysis skills, including the ability to build and utilise complex financial models (strong MS Office skills are required)
- Knowledge of the leverage finance sector, ideally minimum of 2 years of experience
- Evidence of relevant execution experience
- Strong writing and presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across different audiences
- Demonstrable high levels of attention to detail, numeracy and accuracy
- Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance requirements
- Self-directed, highly motivated and able to work independently and as part of a wider team

This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates and will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks
