We have a fantastic new opportunity to lead our Merchant Acquiring Services (Cardnet) business. Reporting to the Managing Director of Payables & Receivables (P&R), you'll be accountable for leading our Cardnet business through a period of significant transformational change and investment to realise its market leading ambitions through a client (merchant) focused, propositional led strategy. Implementing the strategy will include delivering significant revenue growth over the next five years.
You'll work with key partners in our Business Banking & Commercial Banking (CB) divisions and our joint venture partner Fiserv to provide the overall leadership the business requires to meet ambitious merchant growth targets and become #1 for client service in the UK.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead a successful and multifaceted organisation through significant strategic change and optimisation. You'll provide regular business updates to Cardnet JV Board and overall execution of the strategy agreed by Cardnet Board Members and Cardnet shareholders.
- Drive accelerated sales growth through our sales channels and cultivate growth from third parties including ISV’s and Payment Facilitators.
- Develop distinct merchant services propositions to meet Micro, SMB and Large clients needs via online and face-to-face channels ensuring these continue to evolve as merchants needs develop.
- Drive improvement in the overall Merchant Experience through the development of digital onboarding and servicing. Demonstrate great merchant journeys by high NPS and lower merchant attrition.
- Ensure delivery of the Transformation plan, building effective teamwork and a “One Team” environment with colleagues from CB, Group Transformation and Fiserv. Developing positive relationships with suppliers.
- Represent the Bank on UK and International industry forums to build our profile, utilise commercial opportunities and identify/handle any external risks. Act as an advocate for Cards and promote the Bank’s products internally and externally – working with marketing and including writing of articles in industry publications and presenting and conferences.
- Build and maintain continuous feedback loops and training to ensure that market & competitor trends and customer requirements are fully understood and that LBG are fully equipped to meet those requirements.
- As a member of the P&R Leadership team you'll be responsible for upholding the LBG values, leading and building a strong culture of innovation within the team.
- Drive diversity and inclusion agenda and strong talent and performance management approach.
Key capabilities, knowledge, skills and experience:
- Consistent track record of leadership and delivery in a Merchant Services or broader Payments environment, demonstrating a clear focus on meeting agreed business targets, priorities and objectives – plus ability to deliver & commercialise investment projects. You'll be an inspiring leader that others will follow, communicating a range of the more complex issues and able to convey an inspiring vision and purpose.
- Large scale change – Demonstrable experience in leading client focused, transformational change across a large organisation and sophisticated partner matrix. Delivering both business and client value drivers to successfully meet important metrics across both performance and budget targets.
- Business strategy and model – Proven ability to shape strategy and continuously improve the business through the generation of new and practical ways of operating to solve problems and gain competitive advantage.
- Customer and Specialist Knowledge – A deep understanding of merchant acquiring products, services and operational processes and extensive knowledge of the wide variety of products appropriate to these businesses. Able to manage customer relationships in order to understand their needs and translate complex business requirements into a clear product line plan, ensuring its effective delivery to client needs.
- Risk Management & Control – Able to identify, assess, supervise, control and mitigate risks across the business and ensure effective governance, oversight and controls in the business.
- Regulatory – awareness & understanding of the regulatory framework & requirements in which the business operates (FCA, LSB, FOS, EU and international considerations) and the Legal framework and entity structure of jurisdictions in which the role resides.
