Would you like to play a leading role in supporting our ambitious goal of working with our customers, Government and the market to help reduce the emissions we finance by more than 50 per cent by 2030, supporting the UK’s ambition to be net zero by 2050?
As we continue to drive the focus on this meaningful area for the Group, we have built a number of new leadership roles.
What you'll be doing...
As Head of Environmental Sustainability Programme, Policy & Governance, you’ll shape and ensure we embed sustainability policy, governance and monitoring capabilities. This will help us respond effectively to evolving science, regulations and industry best practice, with responsibilities including:
- Embedding a group-wide sustainability policy and governance framework.
- Managing the overall Group Net-Zero programme plan and the GEC level Group Net-Zero Committee.
- Monitor and manage progress against our external commitments e.g. Net-Zero Banking Alliance.
- Support regulatory requests, including thematic reviews and regular updates.
- Develop regulatory and market monitoring capabilities, and benchmark against our peers.
- Identify and shape areas for further strategic development e.g. biodiversity, natural capital, Just Transition.
- Support in the management of risks and develop mitigating controls.
- Design and manage ongoing Group engagement and colleague training.
- Co-ordinate relationships with external working groups and forums e.g. NGOs.
What you can bring to the role...
You won't need to be a technical expert in Environmental Sustainability, but you'll need to have a strong understanding of Environmental Sustainability issues. It will also be important that you're able to effectively manage a large scale, cross-Group change programme in line with our change management standards.
