The overall vision within the Payments and Economic Crime Prevention (PECP) Value Stream is to promote social well-being for our customers by enabling them to make and receive payments and protect them from fraud and financial crime.
We do this by supporting the PECP Business Areas in processing compliant, fast, secure, and flexible transaction management services and covering rising threats from social engineering and real time payments by implementing new and improved digital ways of meeting and exceeding our customer needs.
Now on to the role…
We're looking to recruit Lead Performance Test Engineers to be part of an autonomous Non-Functional Test team delivering change within Payments. We believe that people do not fit neatly into roles, and we value everyone's individual skills, experience, and knowledge — it is what makes you amazing!
What follows is what you might find our Lead Performance Test Engineer mostly doing, but your experience will flex depending on the team’s needs, and your own aspirations. Our objective is to grow and create an environment where you can do what you enjoy.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
- Collaborating with fellow Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Architects, Product Owners to design elegant performance test strategy
- Designing and building dependable, intuitive, intelligent performance test scripts, scenarios, and frameworks
- Developing and improving performance test integration in the CI/CD pipelines
- Exploring new testing techniques, keeping up to date with industry changes
- Opportunity to cross skill into Functional Automation Testing, DevOps, and Development
- Lead and contribute to the Confluence Knowledge base to share new approaches and meet Definition of Ready/Done artefacts
- Lead and contribute to the wider test engineering community through white papers and presentations
- Promoting the culture of SCRUM values and leading by example
What we need from you:
- Able to demonstrate your leadership, coaching and mentoring more junior Engineers to create a highly effective testing capability
- Ability to collaborate and contribute to wider initiatives whilst working independently to deliver core tasks
- Experience, and good understanding of, building efficient and effective testing process and practices (both functional and non-functional)
- Expertise in Load Testing, Stress, Soak, Endurance, availability, capacity, and Failover (Software & Hardware) testing
- Experience analysing performance test results and evaluating/troubleshooting performance bottlenecks across of distributed multi-tier architecture and Big Data systems including:
- Thread / Heap Dump Analysis
- JVM monitoring & Tuning
- Code Profiling
- Proven experience with one or more of the following monitoring tools:
- Splunk
- Dynatrace
- Competent in designing, building, and executing performance tests using the following tools:
- HP Performance Centre and HP Load Runner
- JMeter and Gatlin beneficial
- Competent developing tests with one or more of the following languages:
- unix shell scripting
- Java/C
- Experience successfully testing server/client-side applications/services including:
- SOAP APIs and REST APIs
- Web and Mobile app Presentation layers
- Kafka Topics
- Ability to articulate performance issues, risks, bottlenecks, and socialise the performance vision and high-level solution including workload details
- Good understanding of testing in Hadoop Big Data Architecture and multi-tier/distributed systems
- Good understanding of Accessibility Testing and Techniques
Desirable but not essential:
- Understanding (and ideally experience) of performing testing in containerised environments
- GCP associate Cloud Engineer certification/ Azure certification
- Working knowledge of Perfecto / Seetest / Nimbledroid / Headspin
- Experience using/maintaining/creating functional test automation frameworks to test Microservices
