Core Purpose / Responsibilities
This platform will build high quality, re-usable, Data Products that support data-driven client propositions and insights and make it easy for colleagues to access the client, product & transactional data needed to perform their roles. They will improve the quality of client data through automated external data ingestion, deployment of tooling for the capture of metadata and the management of data quality. Consumption of data products will be managed through the appropriate business aligned platform which in some cases will be Client Data & Analytics itself where the use cases are either product agnostic or pan-product.
The platform will also have a role to play as a centre of excellence for data consumption use cases within the Business and Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) platforms.
In collaboration with the Technical Lead and relevant Accountable Executive(s), set the long-term vision and strategy for the Platform and inspire key stakeholders to buy-in and actively support the strategy.
Champion the Platform and communicate its strategy to all relevant stakeholders.
Source, curate, build, develop, maintain and run the infrastructure and data enabling client facing teams to develop insights and analytics that support business strategy and business-led activities such as assessment and modelling of complex transactions, identification of prospective clients, identification of additional needs of existing clients (providing revenue opportunity).
Realise the business benefits / value in line with agreed OKRs and milestones and be the 'chief benefits officer' for the Platform.
Deliver both short and long term business objectives in a manner compliant with the Group’s risk appetite and standards of colleague conduct and aligned to the Group’s data and technology strategies.
Accountable for designing and building data products, services and journeys that are valuable, sustainable and re-usable.
Leadership and management of the Platform’s lab and feature teams as well as effective task management of shared services drawn down from Business Units, Group Centres of Excellence.
Together with the Technical Lead and relevant Accountable Executive(s) balance investment to meet both change and run imperatives whilst always striving to transform and improve as well as ensuring the availability of existing technology platforms within risk appetite, currency, resiliency and in accordance with regulatory requirements. Balance different investment types across the creation of features that drive value, technical features, pay down of technical debt, Run, LRM, Simplification.
Work collaboratively with the BCB and CIB Business Units and with other Platform teams and supporting functions to deliver outcomes that underpin the Group’s strategy.
Key Accountabilities:
Accountable for leading a diverse team.
The main accountability of the Business Lead is to ensure that, Labs and Feature Teams for both Run and Change activity are working on the right set of Customer and Business Problems - "building the right things, in the right way" - and that the appropriate value is being realised by the Bank. This could be Transformational/ LRM/ Run/ Rectification and Remediation investment.
Set the vision, a directive and strategic roadmap for the Platform technology activities to demonstrate value and to nurture quality of delivery.
Responsible for delivering strategic planning, oversight and developing a compelling customer offer, underpinned by sound, balanced commercials.
Collaborate and set expectations with the Technology Platform Lead. Act as a primary liaison between stakeholders, customers, and builds strong networks across the wider Group and externally.
Drives vision and purpose and uses this to overcome resistance when communicating to others
Significant experience of leading teams using agile methodologies and settings with proven knowledge of the competitor landscape, customer behaviour and capability complexities
Builds and embeds a strong culture that lives the Group values. Is a role model and leads using Group behaviours.
Delivers through effective strategic planning, underpinned by sustainable commercials.
Drives a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Experience
Outstanding leadership skills with a passion for team development; allowing colleagues to develop in different/new technologies and mature in ways of working, resulting in a successful team.
Experience conveying customer trends; excellent feel for exceptional user experiences and design
Strong experience owning and delivering products/solutions over the entire lifecycle in a multi-team environment and multi-channel context.
Deep knowledge of relevant markets and competitor landscapes, including emerging products and services
Strong collaborator and leadership skills, using techniques to influence internal and external individuals
Experience in delivery of technology change across software and infrastructure
Understanding of the regulatory environment in which we operate in order to identify, be responsible for and mitigate commercial risks.
Keeps current in the state of technology, and in particular its applicability to the platform
Detailed knowledge of the UK financial services market, ideally in the Client Data & Analytics domain.
