Commodities and Global Markets Division at Macquarie (CGM) is a global client-led business that anticipates and responds to the changing needs of our clients and markets. We are looking to hire an associate or vice president to sit within our CGM Environment and Social Risk (ESR) team. The role is a front office focused ESR role for the CGM Division at Macquarie. In this role you will support our business in managing environmental and social risks and opportunities across all CGM business lines.
The key objective is to enable origination through the enhancement of CGM’s business risk management capabilities.
The focus of the role is a to enhance CGM’s capabilities to originate and structure transactions by working with the Head of ESR and the business to:
- identify, assess, and develop risk mitigation strategies for environmental and social risks that may impact a transaction or new business.
- develop a structural ESR framework to ensure the consistent application of ESR policies and practices.
- provide advice, support and education to the business on ESR issues as they continue to expand both geographically and the product suite
- effectively liaising between business and risk management teams, finding practical solutions to ESR issues
- support business teams in developing new ESG-related product offerings including energy transition and decarbonisation needs for their clients.
This is an exciting role with exposure to Macquarie senior management and the ability to drive policy across the division and be a part of a growing global team supporting the CGM business.
We are looking for someone who has 5-10 years of relevant experience working in the ESG/ESR space and ideally in financial services at either a bank, institutional investor, or similar organization. Candidates with deep, practical corporate, consulting or engineering backgrounds related to ESG will also be considered. You will need to have a commercial mindset, and be prepared to drive outcomes, execution, adoption and change. You should have experience in conducting detailed transactional environmental and social due diligence. Experience with ESG-related products, carbon markets, and decarbonisation in a banking environment is helpful.
