Join Macquarie’s European Gas and Power team as a Storage Optimizer/Junior gas Trader in London. In this role, you will help manage an existing European gas storage portfolio, ensure continued monetization of the embedded flexibility of the storage contracts by trading in the main markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be involved in the build out of the physical storage activity in other European locations, as well as the development of ancillary flexibility services backed by physical positions.
  • You will initiate complementary analytics with a key focus on physical midstream flows and price action.
  • You’ll build on our current internal and external relationships and establish new connections with traders, infrastructure operators, trading counterparties and clients.
  • You’ll also work to ensure compliance with collateral requirements, regulatory requirements and internal risk limits. Ensure overall operational excellence with Macquarie’s internal systems.
  • On a day to day basis, you will use your problem solving and analytical skills to forecast and manage operational and risk issues and implement real-time risk management and trading strategies to optimize portfolios.

To be successful, you will have knowledge of European gas trading system economics ideally physical storage/transport operations, and a strong desire to build a career with our Commodities and Global Markets team at Macquarie.

You will bring to this role:

  • a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Economics, or related quantitative discipline
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as either a European gas Scheduler/Portfolio Analyst/Jr Trader
  • Proven operational gas (storage/transport) experience a plus.
  • Analytical mindset
