Job Description

Are you a Regulatory Economist looking for a new challenge? Come and join the Economics & Investment Strategy capability at PA Consulting, we are looking for exceptional Economists to support our existing client base and our impressive growth strategy.

Economics & Investment Strategy helps public and private sector clients make the largest multi-billion-pound decisions through bringing together our team of modellers, economists, and business case experts to provide clear answers about potential impact, benefits and return on investment. Our evidence-led and quantitative approach helps bring clarity in an increasingly complex world.

Our team is growing at pace and is working with some of the largest clients across Government and industry, applying economic principles and the latest analytical methods to develop practical solutions for regulation and policy, business strategy, econometric forecasting, competition policy and more.

We are looking for experienced Economists to help build our Economics team. The role involves:

  • Supporting or leading the delivery of large and complex economic consulting engagements, including managing significant teams and senior clients.
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships at a senior level.
  • Pushing the boundaries of our thinking including the development of new approaches and methods.

Qualifications

We think you will be a great fit if you have:

  • A Masters or PhD from a leading university in Economics or similar discipline.
  • Existing experience of managing complex economics projects in consulting, industry, or government.
  • Experience of managing solutions that involve complex problem solving and/or critical thinking in the context of economic regulation and/or price reviews.
  • Detailed understanding of UK economic regulation, price reviews and regulatory frameworks, especially for energy networks or water companies.
  • Experience of preparing or evaluating business plans of regulated companies, including in relation to cost allowances, performance targets, incentives and/or regulatory finance issues.
  • A passion and ability for the practical application of energy economics.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A passion for team working.
  • Excellent written English.
  • Experience of using Word, PowerPoint and Excel to communicate impactfully.
